  Alta Marie King, born Jan. 17, 1916, in Abilene, Texas, died Feb. 7, 2007. She was 91 years old. Mrs. King had resided in California since 1938. She was a resident of Morongo Valley since 1972. Mrs. King attended church in Morongo Valley for 34 years. She and her husband opened their home for use as a nursery for the church every Sunday for several years before the church had a nursery. She was preceded in death by husband Marlin King in 1990 and son Michael King in 1989. She is survived by son Donald Wayne King of Glendale, Ariz., son and daughter-in-law Fred Darrell and Betty King of Kingman, Ariz., sister Venta Lee Malone Dufney of Yucca Valley, 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and one-great-great-great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. March 8 at the Church of the Lighted Cross in Morongo Valley with Pastor Scott Sedmak officiating.
